Apple’s Medical ID feature allows you to store important medical information on your iPhone in case of an emergency. This information can be accessed by first responders and medical professionals even if your phone is locked.
Steps to set up Medical ID on your iPhone 16 / 16 Pro:
To set up your Medical ID, you can:
- Open the Health app
- Tap your profile picture in the top right corner
- Tap Medical ID under Medical Details
- Tap Edit in the top right corner
- Enter your health information (optional), Fields include allergies, blood type, and date of birth, allergies, medications, medical conditions, organ donor status and emergency contact information.
- Turn on Show When Locked to make your Medical ID available from the Lock screen
- Tap Done
I would recommend adding multiple emergency contacts (at least two).
You can also add one or more emergency contacts by tapping Add Emergency Contact under Emergency Contacts. When you call emergency services using Emergency SOS, your iPhone will send a message to your emergency contacts with your location.
You can change or delete your Medical ID at any time through the Health app.It is important to keep your Medical ID up-to-date. If you make any changes to your medical information, be sure to update your Medical ID accordingly. By setting up Medical ID on your iPhone 16 / 16 Pro, you can help ensure that you receive the appropriate medical care in case of an emergency.
